Artificial Intelligence (AI) is part of education, both creating new opportunities while introducing complex governance challenges. This resource serves as a practical guide for educational leaders, administrators, educators, learners, and policymakers responsible for the teaching, learning, deployment, and management of AI systems within educational institutions. Unlike resources designed for AI developers or vendors, this collection focuses on good AI governance for educaiton, ethical considerations, and the responsible use of AI in education.
The primary audience for these case studies includes university administrators, school boards, government policymakers, and education sector leaders working to integrate AI into learning environments. The cases are intentionally designed as scenario based learning activities, to allow them to be readily embedded in courses and professional learning contexts, providing real-world examples and insights. Rather than attempting to offer an exhaustive overview, this resource provides a structured framework for exploring and evaluating what impacts good governance has on educational contexts. It does not provide legal guidelines. The goal of the website is to support people go from good governance to good practice across early childhood, K-12, TAFE, and higher education settings.
The case studies can be as broad or narrow in scope as suits your experiences. Suggested case study topics include strong examples of accountability and leadership (including teaching AI risks and ethics), academic integirty and assessment reform, and best practice models for stakeholder engagement, continuous evaluation of performance, engaging with third party vendors, and great inclusive design.
